    Hello,

I bought one Router SMCBR24Q to use it at the company I’m currently working.
    http://www.smc.com/files/AR/DS_SMCBR24Q.pdf

We were using a DSL modem/router to access the internet with no problems, however we changed to a cable ISP (http://www.tvcabo.pt/internet/internet.aspx) and therefore the modem ( now it’s a Thomson) also changed, since we have a small network with a total of 11 computers (all using Windows XP) connected we need a router and decided to bought the one already mentioned.

The problem is only the first 6 computers requesting IP can actually acquire it, all the others get unlimited connection because they are not assigned an IP…

I’ve tried changing some of the settings, assigning static and dynamic ip’s on Windows, phoning my ISP and spent almost 2 hours at the phone trying to solve the problem but with no luck, theoretically everything seems ok…

The “strange” part is when I access the router management page trough 192.168.2.1 and see the computers which are connected to the router it shows only the 6 that acquired IP, then if I go and press the trash box icon and delete one of them, the next one trying to get a valid IP actually get’s it, meaning that there is no problem with the connection, the only problem is the router giving the first six PC’s an IP and only allows those to access the internet.

All 11 computers are using Windows XP,

    2 of them are laptops,

    There’s 2 access points (Conceptronics),

8 of them use wireless connection

    3 use wired connection

All of them can access the web but only six at one time

Could this be my new ISP fault’s or is the problem on the Router?
I have an option to clone Mac adress on the router, should i use that and clone the modems Mac?

Thanks in advance for your time and patience.

ok, solved the “problem”, modem has 2 modes, by default it comes in Home mode, and it seems that mode only allows 6 users, too bad the manual doesn’t mention it, because the other mode SOHO doesn’t allow parental control and many other features…
