    Hello.
I want to share the internet with two computers. So I have a router and two computers connected to it. I can see, that internet reaches the router, but there is no internet in computers. Router is configured to work with dynamic IP. There was some DNS’s set up when I turned it on, default Mask 255.255.255.0 (ISP gave me the paper where only Mask is written). MAC is cloned. The adapters of computers are configured to obtain IP and all stuff automatically, DHCP is enabled on the router. However there is no Interrnet… What else should I do?

    Sorry for my language.

Your language is fine — sorry for my slow response!

What kind of IP addresses are you seeing on the computers? If you DO NOT have something in the 192.168.x.x range, then you should check your physical connectivity. Switch ports and Ethernet cables if you can. Make sure that your computers are set up to obtain an IP address and DHCP information automatically; check for and clear out any static values that you’ve set.

If you DO have a 192.168.x.x address, open up a command prompt and ping some websites. Try

    ping google.com

If that works (i.e., if it doesn’t just time out), you should have Internet access. Open up a web browser and try again. If that fails, you know you have a web browser configuration issue. If it doesn’t work, however, try

    ping 72.14.207.99

if that works, you have a DNS configuration issue. Try to clear our your DNS tables by running

    ipconfig /flushdns

However, if that second ping also fails (and you can still get to the router’s control panel), you know you have a problem with the router (which, if the configuration seems fine, could be a hardware defect).

I think Ihave two problems. They may or may not be related. I have a lysks BEFSX41 router that every minute request a new ip lease. The client lease time is set to (0) susposed to mean one day. What may be the issue.
The other issue is that the internal network seems to disconnect an reconnect at random. I know that the issue is persistant remoting from outside the system and also remoting in from inside the system.
configuration modem connected to router. router directly connect to server, two othe statiosn and a switch, swich has three stations. all cat5 connects. This cause delays in a operations. HELP!!

DHCP lease times are usually determined by your ISP. I would contact them first and ask them to check to see why you might be getting such uselessly short leases. Beyond that, I would check to make sure that you have the latest BEFSX41 firmware.

And what do you mean by “the internal network seems to disconnect an reconnect at random”? Do you mean that one machine will lose its LAN connection for a second, or every machine, or what? Does it happen on all machines, or just some of them? If you only have a problem with the machines on your secondary switch, for example, I’d tend to blame it on a cheap switch.

    Good Day!!

I have had the IPS providers at my location. They brouhgt up some of their monitoring software which showed that the request for lease was coming from my router. We reintered most information, reset, turn off, hit with a hammer nothing effected the lease time.

The other issue is that the internal network show that it is reconnecting on all machines. This is one of the reasons I think some how these two issues are related.

I have been remote to my computer in the office and have had a message come on the screen that the hort is presently disconnected. After a minute or two I can continue to operate the same program I was in before the what ever happpened.

I will look for updated sotfware.

    Thank you for your help.

    Have A Wonderful Day!!!

Yeah, it sounds like router router is just defective. If a firmware update doesn’t help, get it exchanged.

    Good day to you too!
